Seattle startup MIND raises $11M to help companies protect data and prevent leaks
MIND, a Seattle-based startup aiming to help companies protect their data, emerged from stealth mode and announced a $11 million seed round.
Founded last year by a trio of cybersecurity experts, MIND uses various algorithms and automation to help companies mitigate risks and prevent leaks with their sensitive unstructured data.
The startup is among several other DLP (data loss prevention) firms hoping to capitalize on increasing security requirements as companies use more and more data, a trend driven in part by the AI boom.
Customers include education company Guild; cloud platform Akamai; and translation service Lionbridge.
Eran Barak, co-founder and CEO, previously founded Israeli security startup Hexadite, which Microsoft acquired in 2017.
Barak is based in Seattle, along with four other colleagues. The rest of the MIND team is spread across the U.S. and in Tel Aviv. The company has more than 30 employees.
Itai Schwartz, co-founder and CTO, was the first employee at security automation startup Torq. Hod Bin Noon, co-founder and vice president of R&D, was the first employee at another security startup, Dazz.
The three co-founders previously served in the secretive Israeli military cyber warfare unit 8200.
YL Ventures, based in Silicon Valley and Tel Aviv, led the seed round. Other leaders at publicly traded cybersecurity companies also invested.
